June on "Fast-Forward"

It definitely feels like someone accidentally hit the fast-forward button on our lives lately!  We have so many things we still want to do, but our schedule is getting booked up, and even double-booked sometimes!  The nice thing is, when we just can't find a mutual time to plan an outing with someone now, we can postpone it until next September!  :-)

This picture of the reconstruction progress on the basic school building shows how far along the workers have come.  The front is actually looking like they'll be able to move in this summer.  (The back side, not so much!)  We haven't had a peek inside either since our tour a long time ago, so hopefully there's a lot of progress on the interior too.  It's quite an impressive looking structure, and there seem to be more workers busy lately.
Monday at church choir we heard details of the big synod event to be held on Saturday in Vychodná, where the mass choir we rehearsed with will sing.  Tim has to play in the last basketball tournament at school, so he'll meet me there later.  (Double-booking #1!)  Monday at volleyball there were only 9 of us, but it was still fun playing 4-on-5.  Then Tuesday we had our adult students for English lessons as usual.

Wednesday after school we went on a bike ride down by the river because it was a gorgeous afternoon.  In the course of our ride, we ran into so many people we know.  It reminded us of being in Ankeny and taking an hour and a half to go grocery shopping at Hy-Vee because we keep running into friends and chatting a while!   :-)   Maybe that's another reason why we have felt so at home here in Liptovsky Mikuláš -- it has a "small-town Iowa" feel.  One of our stops was to talk to Ján, the bike shop owner who has helped us so much with our bicycles, and who is the proud father of a new baby.  He introduced us to his lovely wife and their precious new addition as they were walking along the river on the bike path.  Fun!!  We also had made plans to meet our colleague (and sermon translator) Zuzana and her son Timko for supper at Good Mood Pizza.  It was so warm that we ate on the outdoor terrace.  (More reminders of Ankeny --- like on the patio for Taco Tuesday at the Clipper!)

Today was even warmer and sunnier - about 80 degrees.  Now it's starting to feel like summer!!  Eva came for her lesson this evening, but when Tim's student, Marian, came, he whisked Tim away in his car somewhere and they haven't returned yet.  I'm quite confident he's in good hands!   :-)

Double-booking #2 will occur tomorrow night - it's actually a triple - but we are skipping volleyball in order to attend two other events!  All year long Tim's Friday night basketball bunch has talked about their annual barbecue party at the end of the year, with wives included.  Well, we found out it's tomorrow.  Meanwhile, our I.A5 class invited us to their party/barbeque on Friday night, as part of their 2-day class trip, and they really want us to attend.  Thankfully, Erik will be attending both events as well, so he'll be our chauffeur, since each will be in a different village in valleys on opposite sides of a large hill!!

And I haven't even mentioned the rest of the weekend --- there's more in store!!
