What a Circus!

Sunday evening we encountered a circus unexpectedly, so we just spontaneously decided to buy tickets for the big top!  We saw the huge tents, lights, signs, and trailers; and all that hoop-la enticed us to attend.  We were not disappointed!!  It was a typical circus with trapeze artists, clowns, a juggler, and lots of animals.  LOTS of animals!!  12 beautiful white horses, 7 big tigers, 2 elephants, 2 giraffes, 6 camels, and many other non-circus type animals, like snakes (MANY, and BIG snakes!), an alligator, a kangaroo which hopped over the camels' necks as they were laying on the ground, emus, llamas (or alpacas??), and I'm sure to be forgetting some others.  We had fun watching the little kids' excitement as much as the circus itself!

BIG snakes!!  and lots more littler ones as well!

The elephants were so majestic!

We've never seen giraffes at a circus before!

We went to church in the morning of course, and we're doing much better following the liturgy as well as singing the hymns.  We are really missing hearing sermons that we actually understand, so we listened online to Pastor Householder at Lutheran Church of Hope in WDM right after our church.  We are planning to check out online sermons weekly from now on.  The plan was to have a picnic lunch somewhere outside, but by lunchtime it was really too cool, so we had our picnic at the kitchen table instead.  LOL!  But it was a long walk out to where we ran into the circus tents, so we eventually got some exercise in.

Today, Monday, was a normal school day, and I'm really starting to learn the kids' names in some of my classes.  It was sunny after school, so we decided to go on a run on the same route we've been doing to the village of Trstene.  There were apples begging to be eaten from the trees along the ditches, so we had our after-school snack as well.  :-)  Tonight we had a lovely visit from Lenka, our landlady's daughter, who lives in Prague and speaks perfect English.  She works for Oracle, and she's excited about a trip to San Francisco next week.  :-)

The alarm is set earlier for tomorrow morning because of our Tuesday staff devotions before school.  Wednesday will be earlier as well, because we just found out we'll be traveling to Zilina again to apply for the work visas that day.  Another teacher will be driving us there this time, and we are very hopeful this time there will be no glitches!!
