Saturday Cycling Scenes

Greetings to all our friends and relatives!  Saturday has started out great, of course with sleeping late, breakfast, and hot chai tea.  :-)  Then we walked to the grocery store to get a bunch of baking ingredients.  I looked online for recipes for bars and desserts to use some of the apples people have given us, so I'll be seeing how baking goes here tomorrow for the first time.  After lunch, we went out on a lovely bike ride, exploring a road leading out of Liptovsky Mikuláš to a small village called Ploštin.  It was gently uphill after we left L.M., but not strenuous.  Of course the way back was all downhill, so we were really rolling along!    Tim had discovered a bike path along the river, close to where we had walked another day, so we'll check that out more next time.

On the bike path, parallel to the river

Hi!!
Today, the top of Poludnica, where we climbed last Saturday, was all shrouded in clouds at the top, so we feel so fortunate for the beautiful sunshine we had for our hike!  There certainly wouldn't have been good visibility from up there today.  Tim also found out last night at the pub that the mountains are closed to hikers from Oct. 15 - June 15 to protect the wildlife, so again, we are soooooo lucky we chose to hike last weekend when the weather was beautiful, or we wouldn't have had another chance until next summer.

Heading out of Liptovsky Mikuláš, seeing Pludnica ahead, in the clouds

The countryside was beautiful!

I took all the pictures while riding, so not the greatest photography,
but still pretty views.

Arriving in Ploštin

House - yard - outbuilding in Ploštin - there were chickens!

Tim riding back across the Vah river into L.M.
This church is right in the middle of the road -
which seems to be not that uncommon!

The Vah River to the west

The Vah River to the east

The doors to the big Catholic church on the square.
We think maybe there was a wedding today, seeing
the decorations and flowers on the doors.
The side doors to the church - very ornate and beautiful.
