A Visit from a Runaway Gingerbread Man

We received a letter at school from Miss Erin's Preschool class at Northeast Elementary in Ankeny.  Inside was a runaway Gingerbread Man!!  Curran and the rest of the class wanted to hear about the place Curran's Gingerbread Man ran off to!!  So we had lots of fun deciding what to put inside an envelope to send back to Curran at school.  Then we went to the post office and mailed it, without help from any of our helpful colleagues!  (We were pretty proud of ourselves not having to ask someone to go along with us this time!!)  :-)

The cabinet by our desks - with the letter and the Gingerbread Man
from Curran!!  :-)   (Also a Martin Luther poster from Wittenberg.)

Today at school I did a lot of prep work for "Speaker's Corner", which is a public speaking competition in English, which by the way, the American Lectors are in charge of.  It's a local school-wide competition in January for three age groups, and we will take our winners to a regional competition on Valentine's Day in......Žilina - one of our favorite places!!  (For sure, it's a place we are very familiar with - LOL!!)  But this time we won't be stopping by the Immigration Police Office like our previous 6 times there.  :-)

Sometimes it really hits us how amazing it is that we are actually here, serving in Slovakia.  We feel incredibly blessed to have this opportunity, and to be supported by family and friends back in the U.S. who are keeping us in their prayers.  Thank you all for your prayer support - it means so much to us!!
