Party Preparations

The last couple of days have been pretty much heavy-duty party prep any time we haven't been at school.  Let's just say I've been in the kitchen a lot lately!!  There will definitely be enough food (and I may possibly have gotten into "over-kill" territory on that category), and it's BYOB.  That's for two reasons:
  1. Bottled beverages are really heavy when you have to WALK home from the grocery store, so we decided to just get a few, so there are at least some choices available.
  2. We really don't know what people here will choose to drink from 5:00-7:00 on a week night, especially when some may be driving so can't have alcohol, and others may want a glass of wine.
  3. O.K. - there are actually three reasons - we really don't want to have a bunch of partially empty bottles of different pop, juice, etc. left over - so this way people can bring and enjoy what they choose, and then take it home!!  Good idea, right?    :-)
We also received TWO packages in the mail - one each yesterday and today.  Birthday for Tim and Christmas gifts!  :-)   So now there are packages from America under our little Christmas tree.  This week at school things are pretty hectic with preparations for a big open house for potential students and their parents on Thursday.  Needless to say, the American lectors get to be a part of it all.  :-)  We also found out that we have to plan for subs on Monday so that we can help judge the school-wide English Olympics.  (Oh, and we are in charge of preparing the oral parts of the contest - three levels, two parts each.  It should be fun!!)

Well, the furniture is all rearranged, the food is ready, and we're looking forward to hosting our colleagues tomorrow after school.  Hopefully they'll like my American cooking.   ;-)
